Creating photographic art is about much more than knowing how to pose and light a subject. It’s about learning to create a scene and tell a story. Most photographers are too intimidated at the thought of being “creative” when it comes to image making because they’re overwhelmed with the technical elements that go into crafting a well composed photo.
With that in mind, I present a new form of workshop...one intended for those that aren’t satisfied with simply “lighting the face”...but rather, are looking to elevate their work to an art form while learning how to think “creatively”.
This is not a “sit back and watch” workshop. Those involved will be truly involved. Be prepared to take an active role in the day’s events as participants learn to break down the creative experience into the core skills needed to think through the creative process. Each participant will be given rotating roles and responsibilities throughout the day. These assignments are designed specifically to simplify the creative process and dissect what it takes to think more creatively.
Expect to walk away from this workshop in a different mindset than what you enter. Expect to be energized and excited to get back to the image making process. Expect to fall in love with photography again, all while having good fun with good friends. You won’t need to drag your equipment along as the tools needed for the day will be provided. Instead, come with a clear mind and a light load...because what you’ll take away from this workshop is not nearly as much about how to use your hands, as it is a out how to use your head.

What You Need to Know:
You do not need to have all of the "technical" skills for image making (ie, lighting, posing, composition, etc). We will be working together to bridge the technical into the creative expression.
The Creative.U experience is limited to 7 participants. This limitation is in place to help ensure that EVERY participant gets the full advantage and experience of being involved in the workshop.
Seats will be booked on a "first come, first serve" basis.
Because attendance is highly limited, the workshop fee will be non-refundable (but in the event of emergency cancellation, 75% of the registration fee may be applied to a future Creative.U workshop).
Creative.U is a 2 day workshop. Day 1 is a full day of image making (8-10 hrs), while day 2 is a full day of post-processing images from day 1 (6-8 hrs). Lunch and snacks will be provided both days.
Travel to and from the workshop, as well as accommodations, are the responsibility of the registrant. (Recommended accommodations, as well as day 1 and day 2 locations will be included in your registration confirmation.)
Registered participants may be included in video and photographic advertising productions for future Creative.U workshops. Images created under supervision during the Creative.U workshop will remain the copyright of Joshua Hanna Photography & Design for use in promotion of future workshops, however workshop images will be shared with participants for their personal use as well.
Participants may bring their own equipment, but I highly encourage you to bring as little as possible. The less you have to keep track of, the more open you will be to the learning experience! Day 2's post-processing will be screen and audio recorded and shared with workshop participants. This will allow you to focus on creativity instead of trying to keep up on your laptop!
